A rare and unusual Chinese long table with everted Flanges, Qiaotouan
Like the outward-curling arms of the round-back chair, everted flanges on tables seem to be a mark of status and power. They literally stand out and draw attention to themselves. This also made them similar to the altar table in temples. Chilong (hornless dragon) and fret motifs indicate the styles of both Ming and early Qing periods.
Early Qing Dynasty, 18th century, acquired in Anhui province, Jumu (southern elmwood)
